Atelier Notes
Considered from the stone outward.
Every Diamos piece begins as a drawing. These are its notes: the stone you have chosen, the geometry that makes it come alive, what holds it, and the gold it is made in.
The notes for Verdelle Multi Shape Lab Grown Diamond Statement NecklaceGrown, then graded independently before it is ever set. We choose only the colourless grades, D, E and F, so what you see is pure light, never a tint.
Of the four Cs, cut is the only one shaped by human hands, and the one you see first. Colour and clarity describe the stone; cut decides how much light it gives back. Cut too shallow, light slips through and the centre looks glassy. Too deep, it leaks away and the centre turns dark. Ours are cut to IGI's highest grades, so the light comes back to you.
The stone sits high and open, so light can reach it from every side. Each claw is shaped and set by hand to hold the stone securely while covering as little of it as possible.
Pure gold is too soft to hold a diamond, so it is alloyed for strength and colour. The number tells you how much fine gold is in every thousand parts, and the hallmark proves it.
Of Earth and Light
The same fire, without the scar.
A mined diamond begins with a hole in the earth. Ours begins with a seed, a sealed chamber and the sun. Chemically, physically and optically it is the same diamond. Only the way it comes to be is different.
Plate V · MinedForest cleared, earth terraced, rock hauled out to reach the kimberlite.
Plate VI · GrownA diamond seed, growing layer by layer, powered by the sun.
Draw the line to compare
Formed under heat and pressure deep in the earth, then dug back out of it.
Grown from a sliver of diamond, in those same conditions recreated above ground.
Open pits can reach a kilometre across. Forest, soil and habitat are cleared for pits, roads and waste dumps.
No pit and no clearing. Nothing is taken from the ground to reach it.
Diesel-driven excavation, hauling and ore crushing.
Grown with solar electricity. The sun does the work.
Can pass through many hands between mine and jeweller, so its origin is often hard to trace.
Traceable from seed to setting, and graded independently by IGI.
The price carries the cost of extraction and a long supply chain.
The same diamond for far less, so more of your budget goes into size, cut and design.
Identical, atom for atom. Pure carbon, hardness 10, the same brilliance and fire. Only its origin is kinder.
What your diamond leaves in the ground
What a mined 1.00 ct would have taken from the earth.
Same brilliance. A lighter touch on the earth.
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, not simulants, graded on the same scale as mined stones. Diamos diamonds are grown using solar electricity. Per-carat figures are industry estimates from Frost & Sullivan, Environmental Impact Analysis: Mined Diamonds vs. Lab-Grown Diamonds (2014); the impact of any one mine varies.
