What are lab-grown diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment that reproduces the conditions under which natural diamonds form deep in the earth. The result is a stone with the same crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond; the only difference is where it was grown.
Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is chemically, physically and optically identical to a mined diamond: both are pure crystallised carbon. Gemmological laboratories grade lab-grown diamonds on the same 4Cs scale used for natural stones.
Can anyone tell the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Not with the naked eye, and not even under a standard jeweller's loupe. Distinguishing the two requires specialised equipment found only in gemmological laboratories, which is why every Diamos diamond comes with independent certification confirming its origin.
Are Diamos diamonds IGI certified?
Every diamond in our Diamos collections, from 1 cent to 10 carats, is IGI certified. Each certificate records the stone's carat weight, cut, colour and clarity, and confirms its lab-grown origin, so you know exactly what you are buying.
What is a Type IIa diamond?
Type IIa diamonds contain no measurable nitrogen or boron, the impurities responsible for most colour tints and internal graining in mined stones. This gives them exceptional clarity and colourlessness, a category many of our lab-grown diamonds fall into.

How do I care for a lab-grown diamond?
Lab-grown diamonds are as hard and durable as mined diamonds, so everyday care is simple: clean with warm water and mild soap using a soft brush, store pieces separately to avoid scratching, and have the setting checked periodically by a jeweller.
